Without even realizing it, I often walk around my house quoting Seinfeld. "These pretzels are making me thirsty!" "No soup for you!" "Serenity now!" My kids look at me quizzically, asking me why I repeat these lines over and over again. I educate them. I show them clips. We laugh.
Over the past week, I've been reminded of Opposite Day. In this Seinfeld episode, George decides that over the course of his whole life, he has made the wrong decisions. What would happen, he wonders, if he did the opposite of every instinct he had? It turns out pretty well for him, resulting in a new girlfriend and a dream job.
Lately I've felt like I need to shake things up a bit. For those of you familiar with the archetype framework I use in branding and my Flourishing workshops, I identify as a Lover. I'm all about passion, following one's bliss, connection and gratitude. I love the Lover. It makes me feel fulfilled to live into this storyline and it gives my company's brand a warm and vibrant personality.
But right now the Lover isn't helping me get to where I want to go. I need to tap into a different energy that allows me to shake things up and do things differently. I've decided that my "Opposite Day" adventure is going to take me into the world of the Revolutionary. The Revolutionary has the passion of the Lover, but is all about breaking down the status quo. I'm ready to challenge my thinking on just about everything. My hope is that this Revolutionary energy will help me tap into new successes, just like George in Seinfeld did.
I'll leave you with a powerful question co-crafted by my fellow RESET coach, Alison Carroll and me. I hope you will ask yourself this every day.

UNITY Still Going Strong
Last week I shared with you that middle school students from First Creek Middle School in Tacoma, Washington hosted a UNITY Project. This week their video was featured on UpWorthy, capturing almost a quarter of a million views. Congratulations to Fahren Johnson who runs the YMCA Eagle Center after school program and her students for spreading UNITY even further.
Over the weekend, I had the honor of hosting a closing ceremony for University of Maryland's Maryland Day, where the students and faculty hosted UNITY.
The participants had important insights about their community and themselves. We started with a meditation, discussed the identifiers we felt most drawn toward and imagined standing in the shoes of someone who held opposing views.
