The other day I was rolling down the road with the windows down and the tunes blasting. “I am sooooo happy!” I said out loud to myself. The feeling of happiness was more intense than usual. Then I thought, “I wonder why that is.”
I started reflecting on the reasons I was happy and realized that my body, my heart and my mind were all engaged in fulfilling and worthy endeavors. “Wow! A trifecta of happiness!”
Often we tend to forget how important it is to pay attention to all aspects of our being. We may be succeeding at work, but we forget to take care of our bodies. We may be at peak physical condition, but our hearts are lonely. Or we may feel like work is going well, but in truth we’re downright bored and know we’re not fully utilizing our minds.
Take a moment to think about your level of happiness within your body, heart and mind. Are all of them feeling cared for by you? Do all of them feel utilized and alive? If not, consider what you can do to elevate your happiness in these areas. If you’re looking for a place to start, write down what you’re grateful for in each area. My guess is that act alone will raise your level of happiness immediately!
