I’m doing an interesting experiment with a coach friend of mine. Every day for 10 days, we are ranking ourselves on how well we’re performing on our life visions. We touch base every day and ask a series of 12 questions that range from how we’re taking care of our bodies to how well we’re performing in our businesses and how satisfied we are with our personal lives.
After the sixth day of reporting in with scores ranging from four to seven, I began to wonder about my standards for myself. I stopped and asked myself, “What would I need to do to earn a perfect 10?” It was then that I realized I had no idea of what a perfect performance for myself would be. There is no way that I would ever earn a perfect 10.
Some people might say that it’s good to judge yourself harshly. It stretches you to achieve more…but at what cost? If we always tell ourselves we’re inadequate, how will we grow more confident and brave?
So I’ve decided to try something new today. I’m going to give myself a perfect 10 for everything in my life today. Today I’m a 10. Wow. That feels good. I’m excited what I’ll be able to achieve just knowing that!
What’s your perfect 10? What would happen if, even for one day, you told yourself you did everything exactly right?
